What food items are allowed on a flight from the United States to the West Indies?
I have had an experience in the past when they ask what food you're travelling with on the customs card, and if you said 'yes', they take you to the side to check your food. At the time (just 1 month ago) the officer told me I could take food for immediate consumption (i.e. sandwich and yogurt), but no fresh produce (i.e. my apple!!). However, TSA's website (http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/istant/editorial_1667.shtm) says you can take food as long as it's properly wrapped. So I probably won't risk it again attempting to smuggle apples through the airport, but can I carry dried (uncooked) legumes like pulses, lentils, uncooked rice and things like that? I've called the airline and they said yes, but just want to triple check:)
