My house is built out of granite and limestone and recently the stones have cracked up the side on one side of?
Most if not all rocks do this over time. Limestone breaks down really easy when water comes in contact with it. Where I am from we have a lot of it in our water. I learned this from my geography cl: Rocks go through weathering-the break down of rock. It seems like if it is cracking it could be a physical/mechanical weathering which is the growth of ice crystals. It freezes then it thaws causing the water in the crack to expand. So over time yes the crack will get bigger. Pieces will start to break off.But it seems odd to me that granite would crack like that. Limestone I could see that happening too. I would have someone come look at it.
