How come usc is still number #1 and OU is #2 on the Ap polls?

It's because the USC Trojans have not lost a game nor won a game to lose it's present position. At the time when they beat the then #5 Ohio State Buckeyes, they not only beat them on the scoreboard but did it in a very convinicing fashion. Ohio State was touted as a National Championship contender and were picked by many in the sports media to be there in the end. The USC Trojans statistically destroyed Ohio State. Oklahoma did nothing but beat a Washington team that was not even ranked. I agree with you on the fact that the ranking system is flawed but this is not the first time that this has happen before. Just look over the past few years and you will see similar situation where a team had a bye week and still maintained there current ranking with out even taking the field.
